laboratory meets highest international quality standards

The EU by means of its project European Water Initiative Plus (EUWI+) supports the Republic of Moldova on its journey towards sustainable water management. In addition to numerous capacity building workshops and procurement of modern laboratory equipment, a new milestone in the project has been achieved: The Reference Laboratory of the Environmental Agency of Moldova received on 18 March 2021 the Accreditation certificate SM EN ISO / IEC 17025:2018, valid for 5 years.

The accreditation confirms that analytical results provided by the Environmental Reference Laboratory of the Republic of Moldova are comparable, consistent, and trustworthy, hence policy decisions can be taken based on solid scientific evidence. The availability of state-of-the-art analytical laboratories is key for Moldova’s compliance with the chemical water quality standards set by the EU Water Framework Directive.

After completing the EU-supported application process, the National Accreditation Center (MOLDAC) issued the Accreditation Certificate.

The Environmental Reference Laboratory is equipped with the most modern instruments, which allow a wide range of analyzes. Beside routine methods for water testing, this means also most complex detections of heavy metals, industrial chemicals and pesticides in lower concentrations and with much higher precision.
