A hundred of cleans up were held in Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. A clean-up campaign in Azerbaijan which will be held at the end of September is next in line.

Joint initiative of EUWI+ project, the Ministry of Ecology, State Water Agency and Ministry of Education led to a hundred of bank cleans up all over Ukraine with the main event at Dnipro in Kyiv as a part of International Clean Beach Day

On September 15, International Clean Beach Day event organized by EUWI+ project was held in Kyiv, which brought together more than 160 people representing state authorities, NGOs, universities, schools, local citizens who cleaned Dnipro bank in Kyiv from around 1,8 tons of waste. In the same time a large mural “Clean Dnipro Starts with You” to remind people about their responsibility over rivers was jointly painted. International Clean Beach Day a Planet-wide initiative, aimed to prevent pollution of waste of water resources. On this day, thousands of people in over 120 countries remove garbage from river banks and marine and ocean beaches.

The event in Kyiv was conducted as a part of a large campaign Facebook challenge #Яприбрав_ТвояЧерга. The idea of the challenge was simple: clean up the bank, make photo, place in Facebook and send challenge to your friends. This challenge became very popular with audience of 200 thousand people. So far more than 100 clean up took place all around Ukraine, involving around 700 people and leading to removal of 1200 garbage bags.

Besides, the EUWI+ challenge #ICleaned_YourTurn has contributed to many clean-up activities in Moldova and Georgia. Moreover, a public awareness campaign has been launched in Azerbaijan, a large clean-up event will be held in Mingachevir, at Kura River banks, on 28 September.
