Vienna, 10 October 2017 - Armenia's government has strived over the past decade to improve access to reliable and safe drinking water. In the framework of the EUWI+ project experts of the Umweltbundesamt, the Environment Agency Austria, advised and supported the national authorities achieving further improvements in water quality. The Minister of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia and his delegation agreed in a meeting with the Austrian experts at the beginning of October, that the Environment Agency Austria will support enhancing personnel and technical capacities of the national laboratory to prepare the ground for international accreditation. At that meeting the Minister informed about a governmental resolution which secures funding for laboratories for 2018 in equal amounts despite cuts in the national budget. This is an immediate result of consultations and advice during previous missions of the Environment Agency Austria.
