Celebrating the newly renovated Environmental Laboratory in Armenia: European Union provides laboratory equipment to detect industrial chemicals and pesticides in water

Objectives :

On Friday 31 January, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia will celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Laboratory of the Environmental Monitoring and Information Centre (EMIC) in Yerevan in a festive ceremony to mark new laboratory capacities provided by the European Union in the framework of the EU-funded project “European Union Water Initiative Plus for Eastern Partnership Countries” (EUWI+).

This festive ceremony will be the occasion to celebrate the relocation of the EMIC water laboratory into new premises and the renovation work that will improve the conditions for laboratory workers and the reliability of water analysis. The procurement of high-end equipment (for about 0.4 Million Euro) and related various expert training will help to get closer to international norms that provides government bodies with confidence in the technical competence and quality of the data generated by the laboratories carrying out testing.
